Rev. Dr. Dasan Jeyaraj I was born in a large family of nine children in Sawyerpuram, Tuticorin. My parents were 4th generation Christians. I was baptized as an infant and grew up in a strict Anglican tradition. Going to Church, prayer meetings, Sunday school were a regular part of my life and I loved to sing lyrics. I was even in the choir for 18 months! Despite this rich Christian background I lacked a personal relationship with Christ. In 1975, at the age of 13, I committed my life to Jesus Christ at an informal prayer meeting. At the age of 17 I attended a camp at Courtalam, where I heard God clearly calling me to serve Him fulltime. I was deeply moved in my heart and surrendered my life to be used by God. Since 1980, I have been serving the Lord. I did B. Th. (1984-1987) in SIBS, Bangarapet, BD (1988-1990) and M. Th. (1993-1995) in UBS, Pune, MA (1991-1993) through Annamalai University and obtained Ph.D. from Utrecht University, Holland in 2009 for the topic “Followers of Christ Outside the Church in Chennai”. At the invitation of Rt. Rev. Dr. Duraishingh James, I came to preach in St. Thomas’ from April 2001. I liked the Cathedral and the Cathedral liked me, so I was invited to become a presbyter, so the ordination took place on 23rd February 2003. My wife Indra comes from Palayamkottai and accepted Jesus Christ as a savior and baptized at the age of 14. We have two daughters Preethi and Premi. We are glad to be part of St. Thomas’ family. Our life motto is to trust God irrespective of our situations. In the course of time we will experience God’s sovereignty and faithfulness.

Blessed are those who put their trust in Him! Psalm 2:12.
